Zane Holmes - Ironman

Zane Holmes - Ironman

profile 200"I'm 30 years old, married, live on the Gold Coast and have a labrador. When I'm not training, surfing, fishing or spending time with my wife I work in my business Dolphin Surf Craft.

I have been involved in sport my whole life and have been competing as a professional ironman since the age of 17. Over this period I have won The Coolangatta Gold, Australian Championship, Qld Championship (6 times) , World Championship (twice) and the Kelloggs Nutri-Grain Series 5 times. I am the first and only ironman to win all these major titles. Something I am very proud of."

Since the age of five, Zane has been heavily involved in Surf Life Saving, starting his involvement with Northcliffe SLSC on the Gold Coast. Moving to the Sunshine Coast with his family when he was 14 years old, Zane quickly rose through the ranks and became one of the biggest athletes on the sporting circuit.

During this time Zane was a member of Kawana Waters SLSC, training under his brother-in-law and former Australian and Queensland Champion Brad Stokes, Zane has claimed back-to-back World Ironman titles in 2004 and 2006 and will be looking to reclaim his third consecutive title when he lines up in Germany for Rescue 2008. He is the most successful Ironman in Surf Life Saving history, taking out every major Ironman title including World, Australian, State, Kellogg's Nutri Grain Ironman and Coolangatta Gold – no other athlete in the sport has been able to match his record.

Zane has represented Australia 12 times, won five Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman titles (2008, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000), five Queensland Ironman titles (2005, 2004, 2003, 2001, 2000), as well as numerous Australian medals including winning the Australian Ironman title in 2004.

In 2007 Zane took out the inaugural Surf Sports Athlete of the Year. Zane now resides back on the Gold Coast and competes for Northcliffe SLSC, the club where it all started.
